The British Beatles Fan club describes The Dung Beatles as “definitely not your average Beatles band”, meaning a refreshing departure from The Beatles’ excessively mimicked looks and dress characters in favour of the most faithful musical renditions of hits and album tracks from every year of their commercial success. A sample of the critical acclaim received can be found on the "Reviews" page of this web site.

Based in Buckinghamshire, The Dung Beatles got together in 2013, with Danny Prendergast on lead guitar and vocal, Mike Ashton on drums, Steve Hillier on rhythm guitar and lead vocal, and Phil Toler on bass and vocals. Martin Kent joined in 2017 on keyboards.

Previous highlights include performing at The Cavern in Liverpool, several live sessions on Mike Naylor's BBC 3 Counties Radio show, and performing to over one thousand students at the Trinity Hall College Cambridge "Maramalade Skies" event on the same bill as Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac. The band has achieved sell out concerts at local theatres such as The Elgiva Chesham (twice!).

In March 2018 the band performed to a full house at the 1200 seat Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury, along with pop legends Howard Jones, John Otway and Marillion, in support of the Friars Club tribute to David Bowie and the unveiling of his "Earthly Messenger" memorial statue in Market Square, Aylesbury, conceived and implemented by the founder of Friars - David Stopps.

In August 2019 the band performed on the main stage "Venue 65" at Towersey Festival, on the same bill as some of the UK's top artists such as Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, The Selecter, Hothouse Flowers, Fisherman's Friends, Seth Lakeman and The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain.

In September 2019, again at The Waterside Theatre, the band performed an exclusive tribute in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the Friars Club Aylesbury, performing "Abbey Road" in its entirety, on 26th September, the exact date on which the Beatles' legendary album was launched.
